McTavish Surfboards is a lofty quality surfboard manufacturer based in Byron Bay, Australia. The McTavish staff make up the most experienced team in Australian board building, many of them with the brand for over 20 years. We now have a 12foot model called The Grace, which is a trim board, designed for graceful surfing, while at the other final of the scale, Ben McTavish has designed the five foot Butterball model, designed for punting airs and having fun in all kinds of surf. Like his famous dad, Ben left school at 14 to make his begin in surfboard manufacturing as a glassed. He later worked for the brand in Australia before moving across to McTavish. Another Byron local, Cal started in the industry in 1971 at San Juan Surfboards, active behind school and weekends when he would also wet rub McTavish boards prior they were gloss coated. Every time I surf, I feel a bit of Bob out there with me. A carpenter by trade, and a gifted surfer on both long and concise boards, Wispy has become a valued test pilot for McTavish designs and works closely with shaker Ben McTavish on the development and design of fresh models. Although he only took up long boarding when he moved to Byron in 2010, he has taken to the glide like a natural. Locke, the in house photographer at McTavish, is originally from Perth but now lives in the Byron hinterland and surfs the many quality breaks of the adjacent coast on a variety of surf craft, although since making Byron his home, he has become a standout lengthy boarder. Greg Saunders also taught his son an early appreciation of surfboards, with more than 30 collectibles around the house for him to try, which is perhaps why one of his favorites now is the historically important McTavish noose 66, along with a 1973 Wayne Lynch six two that, despite being snapped several times over, has taught me about rail to rail surfing and down the line speed. Once your order details have been completed, we require payment in packed to begin building your custom surfboard. Bob and Ben McTavish are each available for a personal oneonone custom handshake session where you can discuss the particulars of your board directly with the shaker in our Byron Bay showroom and factory, and experience in person your handshake surfboard being shaped from begin to finish. Enclose the Return Note and store it internal the package. It's low rocker, slight Dee, rounded bankable rails, and specific fin design deliver sweet, controlled speed and trim, plus glossy arcing turns and warranted pivots, making it versatile for beach breaks as well as points. The endless quest of the surfboard shaker to build a board that handles all conditions the one board travel dream. I really loved the way it surfed in trivial point waves and I ended up making quite a scanty customs. The wide point is way forward, and the tail is pulled into a taut pin. Combining this with a smaller fin template and altered fin position, it gives the Minnie pretty free off the top and a feeling of control. We've been making this board for 50 years! The Hawaiian convince of the widest point forward of halfway and the pulled in tail delivers the maximum classic base turn in the business, and a sweet forward trimming zone like no other. The Tracker has a beautiful pointed nose, the widest point in front of halfway, a flatfish bottom with slight roll forward and a very slight Dee in the tail. The Nose: The Fireballs wide 19 noses with a pleasing blended concave supplies merriment nose riding, as well as notable steering from the nose. In this amazing era of long ranging surfboard design, we must have a nominator design in our range, and the Cruiser is it!.
